Romina De la Fuente Villarroel

Early Music Singer

Romina De la Fuente is a Chilean soprano and music educator, renowned for her specialization in early music. She holds dual Bachelor's degrees in Musical Sciences and Music Education from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaiso. During her formative years in Chile, she took private singing lessons with Eunice San Martín, René Verger Montino and Paula Elgueta Sierra, discovering her love for early music. In 2018 she moved to Germany and began her studies in early music singing with Gundula Anders at the Hochschule für Musik Trossingen, graduating with outstanding results. There she also had the opportunity to have chamber music lessons with Jan Van Elsacker, Lorenz Duftschmid, Rolf Lislevand and Carsten Lorenz. Currently she is studying a master's degree in musicology and classical singing with Teresa Maria Winkler at the Hochschule for Musik FRANZ LISZT Weimar.

Romina De la Fuente is mainly dedicated to the performance of music from the Middle Ages, Renaissance and Baroque. In addition to singing, she plays the medieval lyre and harp, with which she is able to accompany herself. She has also specialised in renaissance and baroque dances, as well as baroque gestures with Bernd Niedecken and Deda Cristina Colonna, which gives her a wide range of possibilities in her performances.

Romina’s achievements include being awarded a scholarship from Schloss Weißenbrunn after the Bovicelli Competition in 2020, being a finalist in the Gijón Early Music Competition in 2021, and participating in the JSB Ensemble of the Bach Academy Stuttgart in 2022, under the direction of Hans-Christoph Rademann. Most recently, in 2024, she joined the Händel Academy in Karlsruhe, under the direction of Jörg Halubek.​

Committed to continuous professional development, Romina has attended masterclasses with prominent early music specialists, including Ulrike Hofbauer, Elam Rotem, Bettina Pahn, Monika Mauch, Andreas Scholl, and Dame Emma Kirkby

Romina is an active performer with various ensembles, including the Duo Irribarra-De la Fuente (with guitarist David Irribarra), the duo Damas Hispanas (with harpsichordist Laura Mingo Pérez), the medieval music ensembles EGERIA and Ensemble Lyrae, as well as her self-founded Baroque music and theater ensemble "Commedia dell'Arte"

Currently, she teaches singing at the Musikschule Wildberg.
